Overview

Miniature Parts, Complete in One Setup.

Swiss turning is ideal for miniature components and is especially effective for producing long, slender parts. Multiple operations — milling, turning, threading, cross-drilling, engraving and more — are completed on a single machine, reducing costly secondary processing, saving time and lowering cost while every part is manufactured to precise specifications.

Components made through Swiss turning are widely used in aerospace, electronics, energy and fuel systems and medical devices. Common examples include shafts, contact pins, housings, inserts, sockets, implants and related products.

From small batches of a few hundred pieces to high-volume production in the hundreds of thousands, our CITIZEN machines produce complex components on a single machine to meet unique design specifications — even for highly demanding applications.

Why It Pays Off

Small Parts, Big Advantages.

  • Ultra-high precision — tolerances of ±0.005 mm or better
  • Excellent surface finish with minimal secondary finishing
  • Turning, milling, drilling and threading in one setup
  • Outstanding repeatability across large production runs
  • Minimal material waste, lower cost per precision part

When to use Swiss turning

For 1,000 to 1,000,000-piece production runs of components up to Ø 32 mm that combine turned and milled features, in metal or plastic — especially where straightness and concentricity tolerances, high-quality finishes and repeatable quality are required.

Key Advantages

Why Swiss Turning at Divine Precision.

CITIZEN sliding-headstock machines, ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 process control, and unattended production for consistent quality on every miniature part.

  • Ultra-High Precision

The workpiece is supported right next to the cutting tool throughout the process, giving exceptional stability and tolerances of ±0.005 mm or better — even on very small, delicate parts.

  • Excellent Surface Finish

Superior surface quality straight off the machine, so most parts need little or no secondary finishing before they ship.

  • High Efficiency for Small Parts

Fast cycle times and unattended running make Swiss turning perfect for high-volume production of miniature components, with shorter overall lead times.

  • Complex Geometries in One Setup

Turning, milling, drilling and threading performed simultaneously — thin walls, fine details and deep features that standard CNC machines struggle with.

  • Minimal Material Waste

A highly efficient process that reduces scrap and lowers material cost on every run — cost-effective for precision parts.

  • Outstanding Repeatability

Consistent quality across large production runs, with ready-to-use parts shipped directly from the machine with minimal additional processing.

Quality Control

Four Checkpoints Between
Bar Stock And Box.

  • 01Incoming material
  • 02First article
  • 03In-process
  • 04Final inspection
Coordinate measuring machine inspecting a machined part
  • Every bar is checked before the first cut.

Material certificates are checked against the drawing and the heat number is recorded at receiving, so every lot is traceable from raw stock to the box it ships in.

  • A full FAI report before the run starts.

The first part off the machine is measured feature by feature against the drawing and released with a first article inspection report before production continues.

  • SPC and AQL sampling during the run.

Operators sample parts throughout the run with statistical process control and AQL checks, so any drift is corrected at the machine — not discovered at the end.

  • 100% inspected, then packed to arrive clean.

Every part receives a final dimensional and visual inspection, is packed with VCI protection and ships with its inspection report and material certificates.

Ask a Question
  • What file formats can I upload for a quote?

Upload CAD drawings, 2D/3D files, or technical documents securely on our website — STEP, IGES, and standard 2D formats are all welcome. You'll receive a competitive quotation within hours.

  • Is my design protected when I share files?

Yes. Every file you send is reviewed only by our engineering team and never shared with third parties. We protect your IP fully and sign an NDA on request before any drawing is opened.

  • What tolerances can you hold?

Our CNC and 5-axis machining holds tolerances down to ±0.005 mm with surface finishes to Ra 0.4 μm. Injection molding is held to ±0.02 mm and sheet metal fabrication to ±0.1 mm, with full inspection and traceability on every batch.

  • Can you handle both prototypes and high volumes?

Absolutely. We deliver machined prototypes in as little as 3 days and scale the same process to production runs of 100,000+ pieces, so you can move from validation to volume without changing suppliers.

  • Which materials do you work with?

We machine aluminium alloys, steel, stainless steel, brass, titanium, engineering plastics and special alloys. For molding we run ABS, PC, Nylon, PP and PEEK, and our sheet metal shop works stainless steel, aluminium, galvanized steel and copper.
